
The midwife kept saying she was amazed at how calm I was and each time she checked baby’s heartbeat she could not believe how relaxed she also was. We joked that her heart sounded like a horse cantering home!
During my labour I focused inwardly on my calm breathing. I sent love to my little one on each inhalation, and visualized our much – loved baby sailing in closer to shore (where we were waiting). David lightly massaged my lower back in between waves which sent me to sleep.
Any “pain” I felt was an intense and uncomfortable pressure, but nothing that warranted medication.
I reached down and lifted our little baby onto my stomach myself – such a magical moment! We enjoyed some lovely skin to skin time and she breastfed very well. She was content and alert.
Three weeks later my baby is still a very calm, content and alert baby. So many people have commented on how lucky David and I are – I tell them that luck might play a small part, but it was mostly preparation. If I hadn’t have had such a positive and relaxed mindset I would not have been rewarded with such a positive birth experience, or such a relaxed baby. Your calmbirth® weekend and CDs were such a big part of my preparation.
